Update Inventory/Deploy from local to central server

We've had Deploy/Inventory installed just locally on a single server up until now and working fine.  I was looking if theres a way to install just the clients on our desktops to eliminate the need to RDP into the server to work w/ the consoles and found this:

How to Deploy PDQ Client Consoles | PDQ.com

However i believe that would require us to be setup w/ the Central Server setup, correct?  if so how can we convert our existing setup to utilize that and would that be a different license?

  • I use the Central Server method for both Inventory and Deploy.  This way, I have Deploy processes run from one box and Inventory processes run from another.  I can manage either application from either machine.

  • thanks for the input!  w/ this setup they all still flow from the server though regardless of where you're running the console right?

and i'm curious how i can setup central server w/ an existing single server setup if thats possible

  • Yes...everything still runs through the server.  I think all you need to do is change the mode on your existing server to Central Server mode and then connect your client to it.

You can search for Central Server on PDQ.com
