Windows Updates & PDQ Reboot

I want PDQ Deploy to reboot machines every night at 3am.  If those machines have Windows Updates that are awaiting a reboot I want to run the equivalent of the "Update and Restart".  It appears that the PDQ Deploy & Inventory "Reboot" do not Update, they just restart.

Any way to fix this?

  • I am new to PDQ deploy and was looking for something similar.

The only safe thing i came up with was to deploy the updates on a given night.  Then in Inventory create a dynamic collection based on the kb number.  I would then schedule a reboot for that dynamic collection for the next day once all my computers have the update.

I think the better way of doing it is to add a restart in the deployment package, just not sure the safest way to do it.  I think it would need some sort of timeout after the update installs, just to make sure its complete.
