Will heartbeat trigger a scan

I am new to PDQ so this is probably a basic question. Will a heartbeat detection trigger an initial inventory scan?
I have my AD Sync setup for 5 days and it scanned on of our computers online, but we have a bunch of laptops that don't check in often. Will I have to "catch" them on the 5 day interval or will it start a scan when the Heartbeat is detected?

Hopefully that makes sense.
