SimpleMDM: I can´t manage or remove an app I deployed with SimpleMDM before

i have a problem with deleting an app i deployed via the assignments.

It is not possible to remove the app on the Devices / Apps section.

I tried to delete the app but nothing happens. There is not even an event on the logs page.

If i try to "request management" I get the following error in my logs:

  "name": "Firefox",
  "bundle_identifier": "org.mozilla.firefox",
  "version": "103.0.2",
  "errors": [
    "Device responded with status: Error"
  "error_chain": [
      "ErrorCode": 909,
      "ErrorDomain": "ASDErrorDomain",
      "LocalizedDescription": "Media lookup returned no results for this platform"

Is there something I need to configure before I can remove an app remotely?

  • Hey Marcel,

    Thanks for reaching out.

    Apps that are installed manually on a device or were installed before the device was enrolled in SimpleMDM are considered unmanaged.  The 'Request Management' button is meant to be used for requesting management of these unmanaged apps.  Since this app was installed via MDM, the app should already be managed.

    You can uninstall the app by going to 'Apps & Media > Catalog > Firefox' then go to the 'Installs' tab, you should see all installations of this app in your environment.  From there, you can click the checkbox next to each device, select the 'Actions' drop-down and then choose 'Uninstall'.  After doing this, the app should be removed from the selected devices.

    For more information on this, please refer to our Deleting Apps knowledge base article.

    Please give that a try and let us know how that works out.  If you continue to run into trouble, please submit a ticket through the admin panel in SimpleMDM - or email us at  When submitting the ticket, please be sure to include the device serial number so we can investigate further.
