Service did not start due to a logon failure


You received a "The service did not start due to a logon failure" error while deploying or scanning using PDQ Deploy or PDQ Inventory. The error is also logged as "AdminArsenal.ServiceLogonFailureException" and "AdminArsenal.Services.BackgroundServiceException"


The service could not be started because its user account could not be logged on.

Either the user name or password given for the service are not valid or the user does not have the Log on as a service privilege.


Ensure that the name and password are correct and that the user has the Log on as a service privilege.

The Log on as a service privilege is defined per computer (perhaps through GPO) and needs to be enabled for all users, including administrators. Admin Arsenal's products attempt to assign the privilege when starting a service, but a security policy may make this attempt fail without an immediate error.
