Overview: This article covers how to securely transfer ownership of your PDQ billing account to a new administrator. Only the account owner can transfer ownership of your PDQ account to another user within the account.

You are the Owner Transferring Ownership to a new user:

To set your successor up for success, you can transfer ownership of your account to a new administrator.

(If your new account owner already has access to your PDQ account, skip to Step 3 below.)

Step 1 - Invite the New Account Owner:

  1. As the current account owner, log into your PDQ account at http://portal.pdq.com/
  2. On the 'Team' page, click on 'invite someone'
  3. Enter the email address of the person you would like to transfer ownership to. We encourage assigning a common inbox / departmental email address as the account owner.

The email address you select must have an accessible mailbox.

If you intend to use Single Sign-On or OIDC as a login method, this email address must not be an aliased account.

  4. Click on 'Send Invite'

An email invitation will be sent immediately to the email address you entered.

Step 2 - Accept the Invitation:

  1. Locate the invitation email from PDQ
  2. Click the link to ‘Accept Invitation’ - If you already have an account associated with your email address, select the option to 'Log In' and use your existing account credentials.

You now have access to your team’s account.

Step 3 - Assign the New Account Owner

  1. On the 'Team' page, locate the user that needs their role updated
  2. Click on 'Manage'
  3. Edit the role by clicking on the drop-down menu below their name

You are now OK remove the previous account owner's access to the account if necessary. To accomplish this, please follow the steps shown here: Removing a User from Your Account – PDQ Deploy & Inventory Help Center

If the account Owner has already left your organization:

Due to PDQ’s account security protocols, we're not able to update contact information on your behalf.

It may be possible for you to access the Owner's PDQ account with the assistance of another admin in the org, as well as your IT department.

Step 1 - Restore access to the account Owner's mailbox (with the assistance of your IT department), using one of the following methods (if feasible):

  • Access the Owner's mailbox directly (with all appropriate permission from your IT department)
  • Add the Owner's email address as an alias for your own email account.
  • Use a hub-transport rule to forward all mail from the previous account owner's email to yourself

Step 2- Access the current account owner's email.

From there, you'll want to use the owner's email to log into the PDQ Portal (https://portal.pdq.com) using Passwordless w/email (which sends a TOTP to the user's mailbox).

Step 3- Log into the Billing portal

You can follow the instructions at the top of the page to update the account owner contact: Owner Transferring Ownership to a New User.
We encourage assigning a departmental email address as the account owner.

Once you've assigned the new owner, you are now OK to remove the previous account owner's access to the account if necessary. To accomplish this, please follow the steps shown here: Removing a User from Your Account – PDQ Deploy & Inventory Help Center
