Transfer Account Ownership to a New Administrator

Overview: This article covers how to securely transfer ownership of your PDQ billing account to a new administrator. Only the account owner can transfer ownership of your PDQ account.

You are the Admin Transferring Ownership:

To set your successor up for success, you can transfer ownership of your account to a new administrator.

(If your new account owner already has access to your PDQ account, skip to Step 3 below.)

Step 1 - Invite the New Account Owner:

  1. As the current account owner, log into your PDQ account at http://portal.pdq.com/
  2. On the 'Team' page, click on 'invite someone'
  3. Enter the email address of the person you would like to transfer ownership to. We encourage assigning a common inbox / departmental email address as the account owner.
  4. Click on 'Send Invite'

An email invitation will be sent immediately to the email address you entered.

Step 2 - Accept the Invitation:

  1. Locate the invitation email from PDQ
  2. Click the link to ‘Accept Invitation’ - If you already have an account associated with your email address, select the option to 'Log In' and use your existing account credentials.

You now have access to your team’s account.

Step 3 - Assign the New Account Owner

  1. On the 'Team' page, locate the user that needs their role updated
  2. Click on 'Manage'
  3. Edit the role by clicking on the drop-down menu below their name
  4. Select 'Owner'
  5. Click 'Save Changes'

The new contact is now the owner of your account and the primary point of contact for your subscription!

You are now OK remove the previous account owner's access to the account if necessary. To accomplish this, please follow the steps shown here: Removing a User from Your Account – PDQ Deploy & Inventory Help Center

If Your Admin has Already Left:

Due to PDQ’s account security protocols, we're not able to update contact information on your behalf. If you work with your IT department, they should be able to help you recover your account in one of the following ways:

- Access the current account owner's email. From there, you'll want to use the owner's email to request a password reset via the billing portal at portal.pdq.com.

- Add the previous account owner's email address as an alias to your own email account to perform a password reset.

- Use a hub-transport rule to forward all mail from the previous account owner's email to yourself to perform a password reset.

Once you've logged into the billing portal with that email, you can follow these instructions to update the account owner contact: Changing the Account Owner. We encourage assigning a departmental email address as the account owner.

Once you've assigned the new owner, you are now OK to remove the previous account owner's access to the account if necessary. To accomplish this, please follow the steps shown here: Removing a User from Your Account – PDQ Deploy & Inventory Help Center

If you’re unsure who currently has access to your account: our sales support team can share who your account owner contact is if you reach out from an email address with the same domain. If you are not able to locate the account owner, or have any issues updating your account contacts, please feel free to reach out - Click here to submit a ticket.
