Connection from PDQ Inventory not authorized, add user to Console Users

Purpose

PDQ Deploy reports that the connection/integration with PDQ Inventory failed due to "Connection from PDQ Inventory not authorized, add user to Console Users".

Background

In order for integration to function between PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory, the following requirements must be met:

  • Both applications must have the same Background Service User or the Background Service User of each application must be also added as a Console User in the other application.
  • Both applications must be in the same operating mode (Central Server or Local Mode).
  • Both applications must be on the same version number.
  • Both applications must be installed on the same server.
  • Both applications must have an Enterprise license applied.

Resolution

Verify that both PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory services are running as the same user account.

You can view and change the service user via the GUI client for the corresponding application.

PDQ Inventory menu bar > Options > Background Service

Verify that both PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory are running in the same operating mode.

You can view and change the operating mode via the GUI client for the corresponding application.

If PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory cannot run with the same Background Service User, you will need to add the Background Service User of one application to the Console Users list of the other application. You can add and remove console users via the GUI client for the corresponding application.

PDQ Deploy menu bar > Options > Console Users

PDQ Deploy menu bar > Options > Preferences > Database > Optimize

PDQ Inventory menu bar > Options > Preferences > Database > Optimize
